Training Runs Presented by OrthoNow Continue This Saturday

The 2012 Mountain Goat Training Runs presented by OrthoNow continue this Saturday at The MOST in Armory Square. The run starts at 8am. Over 776 training bands were sold for the series so far and the week 2 run will be a repeat of week 1, before the mileage and hill quotient goes up.

This year we are charging a one-time $5 fee for the training run series. Pay once and train all 6 weeks. With your fee and a signed waiver, you will receive a special wrist band designed for the training runs. You must have the wrist band to participate. Wrist bands will be available before the run this week.

Thanks to everyone for turning out for the first of the Mountain Goat training runs!! We had great participation and wonderful compliance with the directions that were given at the start - Thank you!

A couple of notes, heads up, etc...   

1. In the list of things that are not allowed on the training runs, I apparently missed two items - dogs and strollers. We love dogs and kids, but please do not bring them to the training runs!

2. The police asked us to announce to please hide your valuables out of sight, like in a trunk or covered by a blanket. 

3. It was recommended to me by one of our runners that if you had trouble finding a parking spot that morning please check out the Washington Street lot.

Due to the spectacular number of people we had last week, we are attempting to get even more police to direct traffic this week - we want to keep everyone safe.

Runners are responsible for their own safety and must obey all traffic laws. That means stopping at all traffic signals or stop signs and obeying any instruction by Syracuse Police. Runners should not be running more than 2 across, in particular up Onondaga Avenue where two-way traffic is often busy on Saturday.

This week's run will be 6.0 miles and is the same as the first week's route. It follows the first part of the course until you come out of Onondaga Park. Instead of continuing, you make a left at the bottom of the Park and head back to the MOST.

There will be one water stop with water and energy drink. You will pass by it twice at the 1.25 mile mark and the 4.25 mile mark. It will be worked again by The Good Ole Boys Junior Bassmasters Fishing Club. Please thank them as you go by.

Doors open at The MOST at 7:15, instructions are at 7:55 and the run begins at 8.
