Race day is 2 months away, but we are working steadily to provide a quality race experience, and that takes many people. There are lots of ways to get involved in the Dunn Tire Mountain Goat, whether that means running it and/or volunteering to ensure it goes off smoothly. I'm hoping that many of you will decide to run the race and volunteer some time, either before or after the race.

Volunteer opportunities are listed on our volunteer site, along with required times.

Choose the volunteer role that suits you best.

This year's volunteers will be treated especially well. In addition to your volunteer shirt, we are planning a volunteer party to show our appreciation for your time.

We currently are seeking:

  • 5 mile captains in our traffic detail. Traffic Mile Captain will receive special incentives like Mountain Goat clothing or New Balance Shoes.
  • Procurement - ordering materials and supplies for the Race
  • We need people to make phone calls to businesses and churches along the race course
  • On course musical entertainment is always wanted
  • People to hand out time award medals in the finish chute
  • People to work race day registration and pre-registration at the packet pick up
  • Finish line set-up and tear-down volunteers
  • Traffic monitors and much more.

If you are registered to run, hopefully you can find a way to help out also. Plus, your family and friends who may want to support your running effort can become a part of the race. You can even volunteer for more than one job slot if you want.

And, don't forget that, per your race director, "It takes a village to raise a Goat!"

The crux of your writing wsilht appearing agreeable initially, did not settle very well with me personally after some time. Somewhere throughout the paragraphs you actually managed to make me a believer but just for a while. I however have a problem with your jumps in assumptions and one might do well to fill in all those breaks. When you actually can accomplish that, I could certainly be impressed.
