Week 2 Training Run Info

March 28, 2013 at 10:28 AM

We all are hoping for a sunny morning this Saturday as we try to kick off the Dunn Tire Mountain Goat Run Training Series this week, brought to you by OrthoNOW!

Here is a complete explanation of why the runs were canceled last week:

The snow arrived after midnight on Saturday and due to sunrise not being until 6:45 or so, we could not assess the condition of the course until almost 7 a.m. What we saw were that main roads were covered with a combination of slush and snow and that the sides of the roads were completely covered with wet snow. Secondary roads were completely snow covered. Our committee had already staked out the course on Friday and determined that the run would not be able to go over "Little Round Top" during the run because it was covered with snow and ice.

It became clear to us that based on the lack of space on the roads for cars and runners, we had to cancel the run. We asked the Syracuse Police to take a look and give their opinion and after driving out on the course, they agreed in full.

In my 14 years with the Goat, this is only the second time we have ever had to cancel a training run. The other time was a freak lightning and thunderstorm four years ago. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we put your safety as our top priority.

As a reminder, participants who have already purchased their training wristband for the series only have to do it once. The $5 is good for the entire OrthoNow! training series. So although we missed one week, the weather looks good for this Saturday and we look forward to seeing you at the MOST.

Second verse, same as the first: this week we will run the traditional week one route, even though it is the second week. Next week will be the course we run on week three, about 6.5 miles.

Hello and good morning! I likned up healthy, last minute snack that you can whip in minutes-"Hummus Among Us" recipe (#253). It's yummy and it's good for you. Win-win. Thanks for hosting the party once again. Have a great week!Rebekah-www.potholesandpantyhose.com
